The aim of the project was to develop a new type of food industry equipment using artificial intelligence applications. The planned development used modern solutions in both mechanical and electrical control, and the essential novelty of the product is the application of artificial intelligence to the mechanical industry. The sorting and manipulation of the fruit to be processed is controlled/performed by artificial intelligence based on the processing of images transmitted by industrial cameras. This essentially replaces human intervention and achieves significant efficiency gains. The application of the method paves the way for further developments (the aim is primarily to launch agricultural and food industry developments at the enterprise).

In 2014, GMV Ltd. submitted an application for the GINOP 1.2.1-14 – “Expansion of the production capacities of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises” call for applications, which received a grant of 21.9 million HUF.

GINOP 1.2.1-14-2014-00840

Expansion of production capacity at GMV Ltd.

Our company's main activity is the production of mechanical products, parts, units and complete mechanical equipment. In recent years, we have managed to stabilize our market and significantly increase our sales revenue with a good customer portfolio.

One of the problematic points was the lack of a profile rolling/tube bending machine and a sheet metal rolling machine. This technology was missing from GMV's system, and we could only solve it by involving subcontractors, which often resulted in delays and quality assurance problems. The lack of a chiseling machine also resulted in similar problems: for a simple operation – chiseling – we often had to turn to subcontractors at a rather expensive cost, and unfortunately, it often happened that due to faulty performance, the entire workpiece had to be manufactured again, causing a loss of time and money.

The purchase of the pipe bender, plate rolling machine and chiseling machine improved the background for the production of our products, and the added value of many products produced in our company's Tolna plant increased significantly. In order to be able to install the machines in suitable conditions, it was necessary to insulate the ceiling structure of the Tolna plant.

A milling machine was put into operation in our existing machining plant in Szekszárd. We purchased this machine primarily to better utilize our existing capacity and to prepare for machining work. The plant is very busy, so this allows us to optimize machine time.

The investment made in connection with the project will contribute to the fact that the components for the various machines and equipment we manufacture are made within our own plant, thus saving us time and increasing the added value of our products.

GINOP 2.1.8-17-2018-01910

Procurement of innovation-enabling technology at GMV Ltd.

In 2018, GMV Ltd. submitted an application for the GINOP 2.1.8-17 -2018 "Increasing the competitiveness of SMEs through adaptive technological innovation" call for proposals, which received 8.9 million HUF in funding.

In the mechanical engineering industry, we need to produce increasingly higher precision and better quality in order to stay competitive. To do this, all innovative solutions should be introduced into production as early as possible. With the help of the investments planned within the framework of this project, I would like to introduce and develop several technologies that will allow us to operate more efficiently and immediately perform quality work with our own capacity. With the pipe bending machine, we will be able to bend thin pipes with a diameter of up to 6-7 mm up to a diameter of 50 mm.

The welding template increases efficiency, especially in individual or small series production: there is no need to manufacture a device for each component or assembly using an expensive and slow process, but we can fasten the components with high precision and speed on the welding table and its accessories. The investment made in connection with the project will contribute to the fact that the components for the production of the various machines and equipment we manufacture are made within our own plant, so we can save time and increase the added value of our products.

The programmed, controlled, semi-automatic machine is an ideal solution for the series size we carry out in the mechanical industry (usually small series, often unique pieces are made). The machine has several product advantages: we can perform three-dimensional bending work on it, the bending radius can be twice the diameter (2xD) (this cannot be achieved with many traditional bending technologies), it can produce quality bending (the mandrel system supports this). The machine can also produce parts/assemblies that we have not produced before, i.e. it will be suitable for the production of new products that we have not produced before.

As part of the project, basic CAD-CAM training was provided to one person at the Szekszárd site. The training was necessary because the demand for the production of complex, unique parts seems to be increasing sharply, and this requires suitably prepared professionals with technical knowledge and CAD skills.

In the workshop at Festetich u.63, Tolna, the purchase of new, state-of-the-art welding equipment was completed, complementing our existing technology. The use of the newly purchased welding equipment (3 pcs) allows us to manufacture large parts with quality welding processes, and we are even able to weld special materials in better quality than at present.

At the Tolna site, we had to transform our existing site in order to be able to separate the individual work processes with the required partitions and gate extensions, to ensure the appropriate access, and to create acid-resistant machining in a separate unit. Previously, we could only perform welding in one place and we could not perform carbon steel and acid-resistant welding in a separate space. This was not acceptable to the customers, so we created a separate department dedicated to acid-resistant machining, which is completely closed off from the traditional carbon steel machining area.

Five new entrances were created with gates of suitable size for forklift movement, of which two existing gate openings had to be expanded and three new gate openings had to be created. As a result of the new gate openings and three walling-offs, the acid-resistant machining, sheet metal machining, plasma cutting and assembly departments were created. One of the most important results of these was the separation of the traditional carbon steel department and the acid-resistant department.

The poor condition of the workshop floor was replaced, which also resulted in technological modernization: the created modern surfaces are suitable for assembly operations. Traffic takes place under the newly built external cantilevered half-roof in the project

A solar hot water production system has been installed for the social facilities, which contributes to increasing our energy efficiency. The investment implemented in this form, in addition to contributing to the greening of GMV Kft's energy management with significant energy savings, will affect the entire workforce with hot water production, thus contributing to increasing energy awareness with a secondary effect.

Efficient technological, warehouse management and administrative work is supported by three newly purchased desktop computer units and one laptop.

In the supported program, we planned the practical training and integration of a main intern into the world of work. The intern's entry into the program began on October 1, 2017, and our company received support until the end of the supported period. With the support of the mentor, he was able to learn an interesting and sought-after profession. Our mentor was the company's managing director, who has a degree in industrial engineering. Over the past years, he has mentored numerous students and interns at the company.

By the end of the period, the intern had the opportunity to become familiar with the professional challenges that arise during production activities, as a continuation of school training and school practice.

He took part in the entire production process of the company's manufactured parts. This gave him the opportunity to acquire practical knowledge in real production activities.

Based on the mentor's assessment, the intern became a valuable employee, and retaining him at the company became an important goal. Our company mainly supplies CNC machined parts, machine units, and complete mechanical machines to Western European companies, so the intern was able to get acquainted with today's modern technological knowledge.

A complete CNC tool set was also purchased in connection with the project. This significantly improves the daily work on the cutting machine, which allows for more efficient work.

The physical completion of the project took place on August 17, 2017.

Several devices and software were purchased as part of the project.

We are adding two new CO and one new TIG welding equipment to our welding technology background, so it is no longer easy to meet the ever-increasing tolerance requirements, these devices will result in a significant improvement in quality.

During the assembly process of machines and units, the use of a pedestrian forklift truck will be of great help in moving the often very large and heavy components.

The hydraulic tap will also result in quality improvements due to the accuracy achieved. With the installation of the device, both machining efficiency and quality will improve significantly.

The bearing heater is currently missing from our technology, and its purchase has become essential due to the quality requirements of the assemblies.

The CNC machining machines have been placed in our cutting plant in Szekszárd, and their installation will be a solution to eliminate one of our current technological bottlenecks.

The purchased computers (2 pcs) and CAD-CAM software will allow us to process the received technical documentation as quickly as possible, thus shortening the production process and enabling fast and accurate implementation.
